Solo Leveling Season 2 Officially Announced!

In a recent video announcement, the production team behind the anime adaptation of Chugong’s and the late artist DUBU’s (REDICE Studio) Solo Leveling manhwa shared exciting news: the series is confirmed for a second season, officially titled “Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-“. Additionally, Crunchyroll has confirmed that they will be streaming the upcoming Solo Leveling Season 2

The anime initially premiered in Japan on January 6, with Crunchyroll releasing the English dub on January 20. Shunsuke Nakashige (known for Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory) directed the series under A-1 Pictures, while Noboru Kimura (credited for works like Gundam Build Divers and Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!) served as the head writer. Character designs were crafted by Tomoko Sudo (Alice in Borderland, Fragtime), and the music was composed by the renowned Hiroyuki Sawano (known for his work on Attack on Titan, Blue Exorcist, Kill la Kill, and Mobile Suit Gundam UC).

The opening theme song, “LEveL”, was performed by TOMORROW X TOGETHER, a sibling idol group of BTS, along with the esteemed composer Hiroyuki Sawano (SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]).

Originally serialized on Webtoon services starting in March 2018, the Solo Leveling manhwa, with illustrations by DUBU, concluded its run in December 2021. Yen Press handles the English publication of both the manhwa and the original novel series, while Kadokawa publishes the manhwa in Japanese under the title “Ore Dake Level-Up na Ken” (“I’m the Only One Who Has Leveled Up”).

There’s also a Korean live-action adaptation of the series in the works.

Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
