The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Scheduled for 2025!

The first season of the anime adaptation of Natsu Hyūga and Touko Shino’s The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) light novel series concluded its run on Sunday, accompanied by the exciting announcement of the apothecary diaries season 2 scheduled for 2025. The announcement was accompanied by the unveiling of a new teaser visual.

Debuting on October 21 with its initial three episodes, the first season spanned two cours (equivalent to quarters of a year). The series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, both in its original Japanese broadcast and with an English dub.

Overseeing the direction of the first season at TOHO Animation and OLM was Norihiro Naganuma, known for his work on The Ancient Magus’ Bride season 1, who also supervised the scripts. Akinori Fudesaka served as assistant director, while character designs were crafted by Yukiko Nakatani, recognized for her work on Go! Princess Precure and Tropical-Rouge! Precure. Shōji Hata took on the role of sound director, with music composition handled by Satoru Kousaki (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-), Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss), and Arisa Okehazama (ONIMAI: I’m Now Your Sister!).

The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino. Originally serialized as a web novel on the user-generated content site Shoetsu ni Narou, it was later acquired by Shōsetsuka ni Narō Books, an imprint of Kadokawa. The light novel series debuted under the Kadokawa Books imprint in December 2017.
Set in the imperial court of the fictional medieval empire of Tianliang, the series follows the story of Maomao, a young woman who finds herself working as a lowly servant in the palace after being sold into slavery. Her keen intellect and skills in medicine draw the attention of Jinshi, a eunuch and head of the imperial medical office. Maomao soon becomes embroiled in the political intrigues and power struggles of the court as she navigates her way through the complex web of palace life.
