1st Episode of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc Hits #1 in Japan

The special theater screening of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training- premiere in the Japanese box office at #1 in its opening weekend with 443,700 tickets sold earning 646,790,467 yen. This is the first episode of the highly-anticipated Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc anime series which will be premiering in Spring 2024.

The first screening as part of a World Tour event began in Tokyo. This will be then followed in New York on February 10, Seoul on February 11, Berlin in February 13, Mexico City and Singapore on February 17, Jakarta on February 18, Sao Paolo (Brazil) on February 19, Paris and Taipei on February 24, London and Hong Kong on February 25.

VIZ Media, the English publisher of the Demon Slayer manga describes the series:

In Taisho-era Japan, Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted boy who makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself!

The manga series was created and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge and was released in the Weekly Shonen Jump on February 2016. The manga series concluded in May 2020 and was later compiled into 23 volumes.

The manga’s popularity expanded into a well-loved anime adaptation produced by Ufotable in April 2019 until 2019. Its sequel film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train premiered in October 2020 and is currently known as the highest-grossing anime film and Japanese film of all time. The second season of the anime premiered on October 2021 and concluded in February 2022. A compilation film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village premiered in theaters on February 2023.

To date, the series is one of the highest-grossing and popular media franchises of all time.
