Kaiju No. 8 Anime Releases Promo Video, Theme Songs, Release Date


The official website of the anime adaptation of Kaiju No. 8 recently uploaded a second promotional video on Thursday. This new video also revealed the anime’s official premiere date, which is on April 13.

The video also revealed that the opening theme song is titled “Abyss” and will be performed by British singer YUNGBLUD and the ending theme song is titled “Nobody” and will be performed by American pop rock group OneRepublic.

The anime is slated to premiere on April 13 on TV Tokyo. Anime streaming platform Crunchyroll has also confirmed to stream the anime as it airs in Japan. An English dub will also be streamed. Aside from those mentioned, the anime will also be streamed on X (formally Twitter) in real time as it airs in Japan.

Masaya Fukunishi will be voicing Kafka Hibino or Kaiju No. 8. Wataru Kato will be voicing Reno Ichikawa. Asami Seto will be voicing Mina Ashiro. Farirouz Ai will be voicing Kikoru Shinomiya. Kengo Kawanishi will be voicing Shoshiro Hoshina. Yuki Shin will be voicing Iharu Furuhashi. Keisuke Komoto will be voicing Haruichi Izumo. Shunsuke Takeuchi will be playing Aoi Kaguragi.

The animation production will be handles by Production I.G. while the kaiju and artworks will be done by Studio Khara. The anime will be directed by Shigeyuki Miya. Series composition and screenplay is credited to Ichiro Okouchi. Chief animation and character design will be done by Tetsuya Nishio. Design for the monsters will be done by Mahiro Maeda. Shinji Kimura is credited as art director. Yuta Bando is credited for composing the music.

The anime series is based on the manga of the same name created by Naoya Matsumoto. The manga was released in July 2020 on the Shonen Jump+ website. Its first printed volume was released in December 2020. Due to great demand, the volume was reprinted several times. The manga’s 11th compiled volume was released on December 4.

The manga is released in English by VIZ Media in physical and digital. The company described the manga as follows:
