Came with absurdities, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt successfully hit the anime fans like storms in 2010. Since then, the anime has become a cult-like anime that a handful of fans of the anime community are greatly fond of. Now, more than a decade later, the whiff of Panty & Stocking season 2 is in the air.

History of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is a Japanese anime television series produced by Gainax. The original anime series ran from October to December 2010 in Japan. Funimation licensed the series for North America, while Manga Entertainment held the license for the United Kingdom.
The franchise came out strong the following year by releasing various projects such as manga and music albums. However, the record stopped when they hit the end of 2012. Four years later, in 2016, Gainax published an announcement teaser image featuring the silhouette of Panty & Stocking with the words “coming soon”. In only a month, they released various projects related to the franchise, yet the Panty and Stocking season 2 was still in sight.
Panty & Stocking Season 2
Finally, the good news came from Anime Expo 2023. Trigger brought a shocked revelation about acquiring the right for Panty & Stocking from Gainax. They also released a promotional video introducing a new installment “New Panty & Stocking ”.
Unfortunately, aside from the trailer, there is no follow-up information. For now, we can draw the line that Studio Trigger will work with Hiroyuki Imaishi as the director from the first season. Looking at his record, Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann, the sequel of this original series will be at a good hand.
For the voice cast, there might be a change in the protagonists of the series. While Stocking Anarchy’s VA, Mariya Ise, is still active in the industry, Panty Anarchy’s VA, Arisa Ogasawara, seems to left the voice acting industry. Her last role was in 2016. However, it might be great if this series brings back all of their voice actors from the first season.
