After its announcement in the MAPPA STAGE 2021, the original Okada movie will finally come into the theater in a few days. Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kojo will debut on September 15, 2023.
The film finally came to light in MAPPA Stage 2023 after two years. There, they unveiled the first trailer, visual, and release date. Before the premiere, Okada also wrote the novel version which Kadokawa published on June 13.

Alice to Therese no Moboroshi PV and Key Visual
The final trailer was released on September 11, 2023. It highlights the background story as well as the main character’s introduction. As expected of MAPPA, the visual is undoubtedly high specs.
Not only that, but the PV also shows the complex story the movie has. From the look of it, it may compare with the awesome movie released in the last few years, Your Name and Weathering with You.
The theme song in the second half also suggests that the movie will bring a powerful emotion. But, will the movie turn out to be as good as the PV seems to be?
The key visual was released on July 27, 2023. It shows Masamune and Atsumi upside down, while the steel factory is in the lower half. As the synopsis goes, it may indicate that their feeling will likely turn the city “upside down” or in layman’s terms, getting doomed.

Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music. The movie features the veteran singer-songwriter, Miyuki Nakajima. She is performing the movie’s theme song “Shin-on” (Heartbeat).
Story
Masamune, a third-year middle school student, lives in a sealed town caused by a sudden explosion of steel mill. The explosion caused a phenomenon where time becomes a standstill.
Residents who are trapped in the city are forbidden to make any changes in their daily lives in the hope that someday the situation will return to normal.
Yet, one day, there is a disturbance in the balance of the world. It starts when Masamune and his classmate, Mutsumi, go to the fifth furnace of the steel mill. There, they meet a little girl who resembles a wolf.
That one change moves the gear which once stopped and begins to destroy the world!
