It’s been four years since fans had to say goodbye to one of last decade’s most popular romance anime. Rascal Does Not Dream About Bunny Girl Senpai had its last anime movie in Jun 2019, and since then, fans have been waiting for an update. Well, they don’t have to wait any longer because Bunny Girl Senpai Season 2 is here.
Yesterday, June 23rd, the sequel of this story was finally released, however, not in the form of a series. Although fans were hoping for an entire season of 12 or 13 episodes, CloverWorks adapted the next arc of this light novel into a movie. Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out is the first film of this sequel project and adapts the eighth novel of this franchise.
The Aniplex Online Fest event announced the Bunny Girl Senpai sequel project last September. The project consists of two films, the first of which, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, just came out. Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid is the second film of the project and is expected next winter.
Bunny Girl Senpai Season 2 Release Date
As confirmed in many trailers, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out came out yesterday, Jun 23, 2023. Anime Expo will screen the U.S. premiere on July 3 at 6:30 p.m. PDT.
Even though there is no Bunny Girl Senpai Season 2, the movie still follows the original story and is a canon sequel to the previous movie and Bunny Girl Senpai Season One.
Bunny Girl Senpai Season 2 Plot
After a draining December, Sakuta is quickly nearing the end of his second year of high school. Since Mai is a third-year student, they don’t have much time left together before graduation rolls around. Meanwhile, his sister, Kaede, is slowly but steadily venturing outdoors again. Just as she begins to find her footing, she announces her most ambitious goal yet—attending her brother’s high school! Sakuta knows better than anyone how difficult this will be for Kaede, and he’s ready to support her however he can. He’s just not sure if that’s what’s best for her… or what she really wants…
