Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM Film New Character Visuals Revealed

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is one of the most popular Gundam series. The hype of the franchise peaked through the early and mid-2000s. Though the series has amassed 2 sequels, the movie was supposed to become the culmination of the last action in the series. Yet, the day was never coming.

The movie was going into an indefinite hiatus while Sunrise was just moving on to other projects. But, after more than 15 years, Bandai Namco Group finally announced a project called Gundam Seed Project Ignited in 2021. It features multiple installments of the franchise. One of them is a movie that never sees the light.

The new information related to the series took another 2 years to come. The official website of the series announced the movie is titled Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on January 26, 2024.

Mitsuo Fukuda returns to helm the series, while Riu Gotou is working on the script substituting Chiaki Morosawa who died in 2016. For information, she is the original scriptwriter of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. She was also responsible for writing the script for the final movie. Yet, because of her illness, the script was never done and it went into indefinite hiatus. However, the official website still puts her name on the staff list to honor her.

New Additional Character

Additional characters were revealed on September 26, 2023. Those eight will add up to 26 characters in total. The newly revealed ones include:

Kentarou Tone as Liu Shenqiang
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Daniel Harper
Hiro Shimono as Orphae Lam Tao
Yukari Tamura as Aura Maha Khyber
Sumire Uesaka as Ingrid Tradoll
Misato Fukuen as Redelard Tradoll
Yuuichi Nakamura as Shura Serpentine

Not only that, the official also released a pilot suit for five characters; Liu Shenqiang, Redelard Tradoll, Shura Serpentine, Daniel Harper, and Griffin Arbalest.
