It is uncommon for fans to seek out an earlier anime adaptation over a more recent one that is simpler to watch, but with Berserk, things become a little bit murkier. This leans more on the Darker Fantasy side. Dark Fantasies have the right to be on this Best Fantasy Anime list as well.

Many have lamented the poor quality of the 2016 adaptation of manga author Kentaro Miura’s most well-known narrative and mourned his departure. The Golden Age Arc then kicks up as the plot goes back in time. Up to the point where Guts and Casca start dating, the anime stays true to the manga.
